5G mobile terminal Equipment (UE), such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, faces new challenges in OTA testing in the mass production stage – higher test bands and more antennas to be tested. New challenges have led to a decline in the test accuracy of traditional equipment and a sharp increase in test time. To address this challenge, General Test has introduced PinProbe® M1, a cost-effective test system with parallel testing capabilities.
PinProbe M1 supports the frequency band 0.6GHz~6GHz and can be used to test 2/3/4/5G, Wi-Fi, BT, GPS and other standards.
Full coverage
Support testing mobile phones, smart watches, tablets, smart charging piles and other multi-antenna wireless communication equipment, support 2/3/4/5G, Wi-Fi, BT one-stop testing, traditional solutions need at least two station testing, station process greatly optimized, while improving loading and unloading efficiency.
High efficiency: multi-terminal parallel testing, efficiency increased by 3~6 times
The PinProbe M1 solution supports multi-terminal parallel testing. This is mainly due to the multi-channel transceiver capability of ODC200 and the parallel execution mode of the software.
Intelligent: Automatic introduction of new products without manual debugging
When new products are introduced, traditional coupling boxes take a lot of time for engineers. Depending on the position and polarization of the antenna under test conditions, PinProbe M1 provides a fully automated introduction method: The system automatically scans the full plane of the test component, and then determines the test point and polarization of each antenna on the test component based on the scan results. Take the mobile phone as an example, scanning the back of the 200×100mm mobile phone, scanning a point every 10×10mm, the test position of the antenna under test can be determined in only 10 minutes. This automatic introduction method can save engineers at least 2 weeks of debugging time.
The import software will be adjusted and changed according to the needs of customers, making the use of the software more convenient. At the same time, the software can access the imported information about the position, polarization and configuration of the tested part. In this way, when switching between different parts under test, you only need to click on the software interface to complete the switch.
System level self-test
After the introduction of the new product, the system is then used in the same way as the traditional equipment – calibration and testing. To ensure the stability of the test, PinProbe M1 provides a self-calibration function: the signal passes through the 7th port of the meter, the self-calibration antenna, each test antenna, and each port to form a closed loop to complete the calibration.

The test results are monotonically consistent with TRP
In order to ensure the detection rate, the production line test results must be monotonically consistent with the standard large darkroom test results. It is almost impossible for traditional coupling boxes to achieve monotony consistent test results with TRP, especially in the high-band test of multi-antenna mobile phones. PinProbe M1 designed an extremely near field test probe based on the principle of radiating aperture near field plane scanning, so as to ensure the consistent transformation of near and far fields, which is consistent with the difference changes of TRP tested by standard large darkroom test and the measured part tested by PinProbe M1 test.
High cost performance
The test system provides built-in multi-channel transceiver test board, supporting broadband arbitrary waveform generation and vector signal receiving and analysis functions, compatible with 2/3/4/5G, Wi-Fi, BT and other types of signals, truly realize the six-channel parallel transceiver test function. The test board can provide the test capability of more than 3 traditional instruments, which not only simplifies the test system and shortens the test time, but also greatly saves the input cost of the production line.
EPP environment-friendly absorbing material
PinProbe M1 measuring camera adopts Expanded Polypropylene foam (EPP) absorbing material made of universal Polypropylene testing patented technology. EPP is a lightweight closed porous foam with good hardness, excellent solvent resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and no pollution from combustion products. It is an environmentally friendly, light weight, high strength, stable size, heat resistance, aging resistance and long service life absorbing material, which can realize electromagnetic wave absorption of key frequency bands in a small space and ensure the low reflection characteristics of the measurement environment. The test uncertainty is reduced and the test accuracy is improved.

Ergonomic design

RF Link Troubleshooting
Measuring the path loss between the test probe antenna and the communication antenna can identify whether there are any anomalies in the RF link.
Cylinder Maintenance
The maintenance ports for the cylinders are located on both sides of the box, allowing for adjustments and checks of the cylinder’s status and tuning parameters.

The Raytest production line measurement software is a non-signaling production line testing software developed based on the Microsoft.NET 4.0 platform.
